Concrete pools are built on-site using concrete. Fiberglass pools are shipped in their final form to your home and backfilled into place. Vinyl liner pools have a liner that is attached to a frame that is built around a hole in your yard. Vinyl liners can be ripped, torn or damaged from pool toys, pool equipment, children and pets, storm debris and more. Fiberglass pools, while more durable than vinyl liner pools, can develop bulging side-walls and spider cracks from backfilling which are nearly impossible to correctly repair. These issues are not found with concrete pools because they are built on-site and highly durable.
Longevity
Concrete pools are also extremely long lasting. Vinyl liner pools require frequent liner replacement over the years, which adds to the total cost of ownership of the pool. Initially, vinyl liner pools are the least expensive option to begin with, but over time the frequent liner replacement cost eventually amounts to more than the higher the upfront cost of a concrete swimming pool.
Customization
Concrete pools can be nearly any shape, size, or depth that you want. They can have nearly any type of feature from integrated slides, underwater seat shelves, a wading area, to attached spas. Fiberglass pools are limited to the shape and size offered by the manufacturer and vinyl liner pools offer little to no room for features.
